Curator /
Artistic Director
Overview
In 2000-2005 I curated Screen Station, a film club and programmed music documentary films at the Ritzy Cinema.
I worked with Africa at the Picture (2002-2003) and Tokyo African Film Festivals, 1998-2003).
In 2004-2008 I programmed the annual French Institute’s Cine Lumiere Festival Mosaiques, increasing its venues from 1 to 6 in the 5 years of my role as Artistic Director. I worked with Unifrance to showcase its annual Renault French Film Festival annually.
I programmed smaller seasons including Reel to Real and Africa Film Focus.
In 2012 I curated the Marrakech Biennale Film Strand and in 2013 I was the Artistic Director of Film Africa, the UK’s largest African Film Festival.
In 2015-2023 I was the Course Leader at the Barbican Centre, running a training in Film Curation. In 2025 I curated a bespoke library at a bijou guest house.
June 2025
I was asked to curate a Bespoke Library of DVDs at Mason and Fifth and asked 52 curators to make lists of their 7 favourite films to play a year long series.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: 7 September 2025
Join Suzy Gillett as she introduces Liliana Cavani's 'La Pelle/ The Skin' (1981).
“This week at M&F Cinema, we journey through the lens of Suzy Gillett — filmmaker curator, and lifelong conspirator of cinematic resistance. From her years guiding bold voices through the London Film School to her own radical storytelling across continents,
Suzy curates not with caution but with conviction. Her selections defy the flat and the familiar. These are films that trouble the surface, rattle history, and speak in tongues both
personal and political. Suzy’s programme is a tapestry of resilience and rupture.” Elliott Jack.
November 2025 I joined the team of the Romanian Film Festival In London.
In 2025 I devised a futue Festival of Films for Peace, and began researching films.
Here is my first draft of research collating a list of films made about war.
